Panic Heart Attack Symptoms Treatment
This article looks at the symptoms of a panic heart attack and what you can do about it and how these are linked together – if at all.
Some people believe a panic attack will cause a heart attack because the symptoms are so bad that your body is suffering and you are probably shaking with fear.
The symptoms of a panic attack
Panic Attack Symptoms are more like sensations your body is undertaking and can feel painful and cause all sorts of problems. The most likely feelings you’ll have are an marked increase in your heart beat rather like a pounding that increases, your body will start to sweat and you may start shaking uncontrollably.
This may lead to you feeling light headed and maybe have some chest pain or discomfort but if you are having a panic attack this is not likely to be a heart attack as well. You may feel short of breath, unsteady on your feet, hot or cold flushes, an immediate need to go to the toilet, a definite fear of losing control of your actions, skin going white or having blotches and as stress increases some pain behind your head or shoulders.
How do you get these symptoms ?
The stress you may feel about a situation brings on anxiety which causes your body to react in a certain manner. If you are stressed by certain situations that you simply don’t know how to cope with you may suffer panic attacks sometimes you get the symptoms for “no reason at all” but of course there is always a reason and it’s up to you, with help, to find the root cause of these attacks. There are various controlled exercises and routines you can undertake to keep these attacks to a minimum.
The attack can not harm you physically although it’s likely to put a stress on your life and perhaps other family members as they see you suffering and feel they can not help you. You’ll need to look at things that will help you manage the attack when you are in a situation you feel you can not control and keep yourself calm or perhaps avoid the situation completely.

Having a heart attack may display similar symptoms as an anxiety or panic attack although a heart attack is brought on when the arteries supplying blood and oxygen to the heart are blocked. Heart disease is one of the biggest killers in the western world and you’re more likely to have an attack if you smoke, have a family history of heart disease, live an inactive lifestyle (for example without exercise), are overweight, have high blood pressure or already have diabetes.
The main symptoms are having pain in your chest. It generally spreads from the arms or neck to the chest area and you may feel sick. Sometimes the pain develops slowly or it can be almost instant. If you think you are having a heart attack you should get emergency medical help as soon as possible.
Doctors will then be able to examine you in hospital and probably link you up to an ECG which monitors the heart beat. You can generally prevent heart attacks if you exercise on a regular basis, stop smoking and eat a balanced diet.
