How to Unblock Websites Blocked

Here are ways to unblock websites that are restricted and you are locked out of either at school or in the office if you are trying to access sites such as myspace, youtube or facebook.

Many companies and schools block you from accessing certain websites to stop you surfing the net during their time when you are at school, university or at work in the office and is also used to block sites i some countries to stop political issues being read.

Most social websites are also blocked such as Myspace, bebo and facebook but there are legitimate ways to get around this and many people ask how do I unblock websites on my school computer so we have the answers to this question and how to effectively unblock restricted websites that have been filtered.

Using Google Cache – Simple one page view

If you simply want to see one page on the web then pop over to google and type the name of the site into the search box and wait for the results to appear then simply click the “cached” result next to the site in the search results. Because the page is hosted by Google it’s most likely that Google isn’t blocked by your company or school so you’ll see it right away.

If you want to find a bebo or myspace page for one of your friends simply type into Google site:www.myspace.com friends name – this will show all the pages that your friend is mentioned in then just click on the cached copy to see the page. Of course you can’t interact and it’s a painful method but at least you can view the page of the block site in question.

Using Proxies

This is a way most people use to unblock filtered websites although most are now blocking the proxy sites so you’ll have to search hard to find proxies that aren’t yet blocked.

More more help see the buzzsurf page (it’s long but has a ton of useful information on it).  A proxy server hides the real identity of the website and it remains anonymous to the blocking software used.

Another one mentioned is vtunnel. It’s best to keep search for new proxies that have been developed and try them and pass them around to your friends and family to use. You don’t need any special codes and there is no secret to these methods.

Use the IP address

Find the actual IP that the website is using and key that into your web browser. Use a reverse DNS lookup (such as whois.sc) to find the IP. Most schools and businesses have already mapped the IP to the website so this may not work. You could also use the IP in conjunction with the proxy service to see if that works for you.

Use IE Tester

The ie tester shows sites in various browsers that again this is coming from a different source so may hide the real website in the browser. Of course you’ll need to download the software and this itself may be blocked but worth a try.

Use URL Redirection Services

I bet you have tried this one also. tinyurl and others redirect to the block websites but keep the url as tinyurl. You can set your own one up at the website. Some of these will be blocked by the website adminstrators so it’s always best to search for new ones. Type in free url redirection service into Google and see what’s new.
