Head Cold Remedies Best Home Natural Cures
If you are suffering from a head cold then here are standard over the counter and natural remedies to make you feel better.
A head cold is just that in that you head feels like it’s going to explode because you have a cold (rather than the flu) and you’ll also likely have a sore throat with a cough and perhaps sinusitis (and the coughing may feel like bronchitis and you could be short of breath rather like asthma) so here are the best head cold remedies you can try at home and some natural cures that have been passed down by generations.
Natural Head Cold Remedies
Over the generations many natural cures have been developed and although there is nothing that can cure the common cold these will make you feel a lot better by using these herbs, fruits and other natural ingredients.
- Honey and lemon mixed together with some hot water makes a great drink and many of the over the counter powder mixes have these ingredients and the lemon has added vitamin C which helps the body recover a little faster
- Pure honey mixed with hot water is great for sore throats
- Have a hot shower or bath with your favorite bath oil or shower gel – the hot water produces steam which will relax your body and also help unblock your nose
- Eat oranges for the vitamin C contents – although this might not make you feel better immediately it will boost your body’s defence system and hopefully make your recovery time a little faster
- Chamomile Tea helps you relax by drinking it and inhaling the fumes with a towel over your head. Have this last thing at night as it should help you sleep better
- Chicken soup – sounds awful but my wife swears by it if she has a cold and it instantly makes her feel better – in fact researchers have found that it helps relieve a runny or clogged up nose
- Water – try and drink plenty of fluids such as water or fruit juice without added sweeteners as this will help keep you hydrated and flush your body with the bug
- Echinacea tablets are seen as a herbal cure
Over the Counter Remedies
The cold industry is worth billions of dollars each year with drug companies trying to sell you all manner of products but as we know there is no cure for the common cold so apart from following some of the items above and taking time to rest and sleep the over the counter remedies may appear to help you but they are not actually curing any of the symptoms. Aspirin, acetaminophen or ibuprofen that are branded may help with headaches or aches and pains in your body.
There are other products to help with sore throats which contain a mild anesthestic to take away the pain but this will only be temporary and the symptoms will always prevail in any case.
If you have tried some of these and still feel unwell then speak with your doctor. Medical advice should always be sort in the first instance as you may not be able to take some of the drugs listed above if you are already on medication or have a history of not being able to take them for one reason or another.
So please seek professional advice from your doctor.
If you have any head cold remedies you have used successfully at home that are natural and alleviate the symptoms then please leave a message below and we will publish them here for others to use.
