Hangover cures are readily available by using natural relief or some over the counter drug medicine treatments and it can be hard because your body is dehydrated so here’s how to get over a hangover and get rid of it in a few hours.
Why do you get a hangover ?
Hangovers are developed because the alcohol consumed in your body dehydrates it and other studies suggest that you are actually getting an alcohol withdrawal when you stop. It can be a nightmare and it’s going to take until midday or longer for all the symptoms to disappear so you can get on with your daily life and forget about your hangover from the evening before.
Attempting to prevent hangovers in the first place
Men appear to be able to drink more than women and this is backed up by scientific evidence in that men’s bodies have more water and are generally larger in any case. And really water is your best friend if you are planning a big night out so the biggest advice is to keep drinking water at a steady pace to keep your body hydrated during the evening.

- Have plenty to eat before you begin and try not to drink on an empty stomach
- Perhaps have dairy products before you go out including cheese and milk
- Take it steady rather than binge drinking in a short space of time
- Still to one type of drink rather than mixing them up
- Know your limits and stop when you are feeling too uncomfortable
- Stay active as this speeds up your body’s metabolism to break down the alcohol so if you are at a party try some dancing or walk home
- Drink a pint of water before going to bed

So it’s the morning after the night before and you feel sick and have a headache – what can you do? The best advice is to drink some water and go back to bed. The rest will enable your body to recover quicker and the water will re-hydrate your body.
If you need to go to work or simply get going then you might think about taking a pain reliever for your headache and something for your stomach and there are many over the counter remedies that can help you with this.
